SINGAPORE, Apr 20, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - Crowdfunding platform FundedHere has raised a significant amount of capital for popular startup Waitrr - with its 'mobile waiter' app which automates food orders to eliminate users' wait times when dining in restaurants or ordering takeaway food - in an oversubscribed 30-day campaign that surpassed its initial target.

Waitrr's campaign was funded by 12 registered FundedHere investors including Singaporean investors Andy Lim, Founder and Chairman of private equity firm Tembusu Partners, and Steve Kek, CEO of OMG Venture. It is FundedHere's third oversubscribed campaign in recent months, following the platform's raise of S$516,000 for medtech start-up AEvice Health and S$300,000 for clean tech start-up EcoWorth Tech end-2017.

Waitrr speeds up services in restaurants across Singapore by letting diners order food and make instant payments on their smartphone devices. The app contains the full menu of its onboarded restaurants and orders on the app go directly to the kitchen. Staff can focus on preparing and serving dishes to customers instead of taking orders and fetching bills, effectively reducing manual error and slashing processing times.

Waitrr also offers a takeaway option for many restaurants - a favourite feature particularly during lunch peaks. Users order and pay for their desired meal whilst still in the office and just pick it up by the time they reach their desired restaurant without the need to queue.

The app was conceptualised by Tim Wekezer for the 2015 INSEAD Venture Competition, where it won first place. It was registered as a company that same year and has since experienced consistent growth. It now boasts a user base of 15,000 customers and 110 restaurants.

Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Wekezer, Founder and CEO of Waitrr, said: "We are thankful for the enthusiasm and support of the community at FundedHere, which both validates our business model and proves that we are on the right track with our product. We will put these investments to good use in our journey to improve restaurant service and create seamless dining experiences for all."

Waitrr will use the funds from the campaign to ramp up end-user acquisition and promotions, develop new features and expand its business beyond Singapore. The company's future plans include leveraging synergies with sectors such as food delivery, e-payments, marketing, tourism and hospitality. Waitrr aims to become Asia's leading F&B mobile payments processor, as well as the industry's preferred point of reference for consumer data.

Mr. Daniel Lin, Co-Founder and Executive Director of FundedHere, said: "Our team's mission is to provide investors in Singapore with opportunities to grow disruptive start-ups in need of alternative funding. We are pleased to have provided Waitrr a platform to reach out to the investor community and very much look forward to its next chapter of growth."

Waitrr :  is a mobile ordering and payments solution that aims to create a seamless dining experience for our users and restaurant partners. Users can choose from a variety of over 110 F&B outlets across Singapore and order dine-in or takeaway food. Waitrr enables users to select, order and pay for their food in one go. Supporting ground-breaking AI research with a total theoretical computational performance of 54 petaflops, up from initial four petaflops

TOKYO, Apr 20, 2018 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu has significantly boosted the performance of RAIDEN (Riken AIp Deep learning ENvironment)(1), a computer system for artificial intelligence research it had originally deployed in 2017 to the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP Center), the AI research arm of RIKEN. The system upgrade by Fujitsu was based on an order received from RIKEN, and now RIKEN AIP Center is putting it into operation from April 2018. The upgraded RAIDEN has increased its performance by a considerable margin, moving from an initial total theoretical computational performance of four petaflops (PFLOPS)(2), to 54 PFLOPS, placing it in the top tier of Japan's systems. In having built this system, Fujitsu demonstrates its commitment to support cutting-edge AI research in Japan.

    Background

Since it began operations after system delivery in April 2017, the RIKEN AIP Center in Japan has put RAIDEN to use for R&D on next generation AI technology. Such cutting-edge AI research is conducted with enormous neural networks, a machine learning method particularly in deep learning. The increasing scale of neural networks promises to improve factors such as the accuracy with which the networks handle more complex characteristics, but has also led to a drastic increase in computational volume. Moreover, even in AI research beyond deep learning, computational time is increasing due to the increasing complexity of algorithms and the volumes of data involved. The RIKEN AIP Center undertook this upgrade in light of its expanded usage needs, with a view toward increasing the efficiency of research and development and promoting further AI research using RAIDEN.

    Structure of the Upgraded System

For the GPU servers specialized for deep learning, the system has been upgraded from NVIDIA DGX-1 servers featuring NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPUs to the latest NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs. In addition, by increasing the number of DGX-1 servers from 24 to 54, the upgraded system achieves a computational performance of 54 PFLOPS. For the computational cluster servers capable of more general-purpose processing, in addition to the 32 existing Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY RX2530 M2 x86 servers, Fujitsu has newly deployed 64 additional Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY CX2550 M4 servers. In addition, it has deployed one Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY RX4770 M4 unit as a compute server that handles high-volume data.

    (1) RAIDEN RAIDEN is RIKEN's official nickname for the system
    (2) Petaflops Peta floating point operations per second. Peta refers to a quadrillion of a unit (1015), in this case a quadrillion floating point operations per second.

TOKYO, Apr 20, 2018 - (JCN Newswire) - Eisai Co., Ltd. announced today that the latest data on its antiepileptic drugs (AED) perampanel (product name: Fycompa) and rufinamide (product name: Inovelon, U.S. product name: BANZEL) will be presented at the 2018 Annual American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Meeting to be held from April 21 to 27, 2018 in Los Angeles, California in the United States.

As major presentations, six poster presentations will be given for perampanel including on an analysis of clinical factors associated with maintaining long-term seizure freedom in global Phase III studies for adjunctive perampanel in patients with partial onset seizures (POS), as well as on an evaluation of perampanel as monotherapy using the results from these same Phase III studies. Regarding rufinamide, two poster presentations will be given including on an integrated analysis of clinical studies on rufinamide in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS).

Perampanel is a first-in-class AED discovered at Eisai's Tsukuba Research Laboratories. It is available in tablet form to be taken once daily, and a new oral suspension formulation is also available in the United States. A highly selective, noncompetitive AMPA receptor antagonist that reduces neuronal hyperexcitation associated with seizures by targeting glutamate activity at AMPA receptors, it is approved in countries around the world as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of POS with or without secondarily generalized seizures, and primary generalized tonic-clonic (PGTC) seizures in patients with epilepsy 12 years of age and older. Furthermore, perampanel is approved for use as monotherapy for POS in patients with epilepsy 12 years of age and older in the United States. In addition, Eisai has filed an application seeking approval for an indication expansion covering monotherapy and adjunctive use of perampanel in the treatment of POS with or without secondary generalized seizures in pediatric patients (2 years of age and older) in the United States.

Rufinamide is believed to exert its antiepileptic effects by regulating activity of voltage-gated sodium channels in the brain involved in the overexcitement of neurons that potentially causes seizures, so as to prolong their inactive state. The agent is approved as an adjunctive therapy to other AEDs in the treatment of seizures associated with LGS in Europe and the United States. In Japan, the agent is approved as an adjunctive therapy to other AEDs in the treatment of tonic and atonic seizures associated with LGS when therapy with other AEDs is considered inadequate.

Furthermore, regarding the anti-Abeta antibody aducanumab which is being jointly developed as of October 22, 2017 by Eisai and Biogen Inc., platform presentations will be made on long term administration of aducanumab in a Phase Ib clinical study currently being conducted by Biogen.

Eisai considers neurology including epilepsy, a therapeutic area of focus, and strives to provide new solutions for those living with epilepsy and increase the breadth of patients for which perampanel may provide seizure-freedom in order to further contribute to addressing the diverse needs of, as well as increasing the benefits provided to, patients with epilepsy and their families.

LUGANO, CH, Apr 20, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - Helsinn, a Swiss pharmaceutical group focused on building quality cancer care products, today announces that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the intravenous formulation of AKYNZEO(R) (NEPA, a fixed antiemetic combination of fosnetupitant, 235mg, and palonosetron, 0.25mg) as an alternative treatment option for patients experiencing CINV.

The FDA has approved AKYNZEO(R) IV in combination with dexamethasone in adults for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. AKYNZEO(R) for injection has not been studied for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with anthracycline plus cyclophosphamide chemotherapy.

Oral AKYNZEO(R) was previously approved by the FDA as a fixed combination oral agent in 2014 for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of cancer chemotherapy, including, but not limited to, highly emetogenic chemotherapy. AKYNZEO(R) is an oral fixed combination of palonosetron and netupitant: palonosetron prevents nausea and vomiting during the acute phase and netupitant prevents nausea and vomiting during both the acute and delayed phase after cancer chemotherapy.

The bioequivalence of the IV with the oral formulation of netupitant was demonstrated and the safety of IV NEPA was established through a repeated dose safety study in cancer patients to potentially uncover adverse drug reactions that may appear during subsequent clinical practice. No anaphylactic and injection site reactions related to IV NEPA were reported in this study.

Currently a repeated dose safety study is ongoing in patients receiving anthracycline plus cyclophosphamide to further establish the safety profile in this setting.

The prevention of CINV has been refined in treatment guidelines over the past several decades. Currently the combination treatment of antiemetic medicines with different mechanisms of actions are recommended for the prevention of CINV.

The approval of AKYNZEO(R) in IV formulation will offer to US patients and healthcare providers an alternative route of administration of the only fixed antiemetic combination targeting two distinct CINV pathways in a single dose.

Riccardo Braglia, Helsinn Group Vice Chairman and CEO, commented: "The approval of the intravenous formulation of AKYNZEO(R) paves the way to bring this important therapeutic option to more patients in a new formulation, and we are delighted that we are now able to push ahead with launching this product in the United States in May 2018"

Helsinn plans to launch AKYNZEO(R) in IV formulation in the US in May 2018.

    About Akynzeo(R)

    INDICATION
AKYNZEO(R) (netupitant 300mg/palonosetron 0.5mg) capsules was approved in October 2014 in the United States and is indicated in combination with dexamethasone in adults for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of cancer chemotherapy, including, but not limited to, highly emetogenic chemotherapy.

AKYNZEO(R) (fosnetupitant 235mg/palonosetron 0.25) for injection was approved in April 2018 in the United States and is indicated in combination with dexamethasone in adults for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy.

    Limitations of Use
AKYNZEO for injection has not been studied for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with anthracycline plus cyclophosphamide chemotherapy.

AKYNZEO is a combination of palonosetron, a serotonin-3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonist, and netupitant or fosnetupitant, substance P/neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor antagonists: palonosetron prevents nausea and vomiting during the acute phase and netupitant/fosnetupitant prevents nausea and vomiting during both the acute and delayed phase after cancer chemotherapy.

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

    Warnings and Precautions

    - Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported in patients receiving palonosetron, one of the components of AKYNZEO, with or without known hypersensitivity to other 5-HT3 receptor antagonists.

    - Serotonin syndrome has been reported with 5-HT3 receptor antagonists alone but particularly with concomitant use of serotonergic drugs. Serotonin syndrome can be life threatening. Symptoms associated with serotonin syndrome may include the following combination of signs and symptoms: mental status changes, autonomic instability, neuromuscular symptoms, seizures, and gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients should be monitored for the emergence of serotonin syndrome, and if symptoms occur, discontinue AKYNZEO and initiate supportive treatment. Patients should be informed of the increased risk of serotonin syndrome, especially if AKYNZEO is used concomitantly with other serotonergic drugs.

    Adverse Reactions
    - Most common adverse reactions for AKYNZEO capsules and injection: headache, asthenia, dyspepsia, fatigue, constipation and erythema

    Drug Interactions
    - Use with caution in patients receiving concomitant medications primarily metabolized by CYP3A4. The plasma concentrations of CYP3A4 substrates can increase when co-administered with AKYNZEO. The inhibitory effect on CYP3A4 can last for multiple days
-- Dexamethasone doses should be reduced when given with AKYNZEO. A more than two-fold increase in the systemic exposure of dexamethasone was observed 4 days after a single dose of netupitant or a single infusion of fosnetupitant
-- Consider the potential effects of increased plasma concentrations of midazolam or other benzodiazepines metabolized via CYP3A4 (alprazolam, triazolam) when administering with AKYNZEO. When administered with netupitant, the systemic exposure to midazolam was significantly increased
    - Avoid concomitant use of AKYNZEO in patients on chronic use of a strong CYP3A4 inducer such as rifampin as this may decrease the efficacy of AKYNZEO

    Use in Specific Populations
    - Avoid use of AKYNZEO in patients with severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, or end-stage renal disease
    - Avoid use in pregnancy, limited data is available, may cause fetal harm.

For more information about AKYNZEO please see the full Prescribing Information. https://www.akynzeo.com/hcp/assets/pdf/Prescribing_Information.pdf

    Eclipse Cross
    MITSUBISHI GT-PHEV Concept
TOKYO, Apr 23, 2018 - (JCN Newswire) - Two of Mitsubishi Motors' latest creations - the Eclipse Cross SUV and the GT-PHEV Concept - have received GOOD DESIGN(1) awards from experts at The Chicago Athenaeum.

The awards are an indication of the success of Mitsubishi Motors design renaissance which has seen a new looks for the face-lift for the Outlander, a string of acclaimed concept cars, and an all-new Eclipse Cross.

The GOOD DESIGN awards are the oldest and the most prestigious Global Awards Program for Design Excellence and Design Innovation. Organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, they are intended to create an awareness of contemporary design and to honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing.

GOOD DESIGN was founded in Chicago in 1950 by architecture and design legends Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., Eero Saarinen, and Charles and Ray Eames.

"It is an honour to have our hard work recognized by such a prestigious organization," said Tsunehiro Kunimoto, CVP of the Design Division at Mitsubishi Motors. "The Eclipse Cross is the first all-new car which features our Robust and Ingenious design philosophy. The GT-PHEV Concept hints at how this direction will shape the next generation of Mitsubishi SUVs."

The Eclipse Cross is a fusion of sharp coupe looks and dynamic SUV mobility with signature Mitsubishi styling, technology and driving confidence. It features Mitsubishi's signature DYNAMIC SHIELD front design concept, with a protective shield shape visually formed by the black central area and chrome accents.

The rear design is distinguished by the almost cubist styling created around the high-mounted, stretched rear lamps and a horizontally divided rear window.

Will leverage synergies for new services that meet societal needs

TOKYO, Apr 23, 2018 - (JCN Newswire) - Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. (TEPCO) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) have announced the launch of TNcross Corporation, a joint venture that will facilitate cross-industrial innovation by leveraging the two industry leaders' assets and know-how, including TEPCO's power-control technology and NTT's ICT expertise.

The move is a business-diversity strategy, responding to changes in the electrical power sector, such as decarbonization, depopulation and the "Utility 3.0" democratization of electric power to promote the economic and environmental benefits of clean energy.

Specific benefits expected from the partnership include:

    1) Increased use of renewable energy and enhanced preparedness for disasters
TNcross will develop businesses that lead to the increased diffusion of renewable energy and the securing of external power supply for responding to emergencies. TNcross will create new basic services based on power-ICT resources that outside companies and municipalities will use to provide advanced services that meet changing needs in the market and society, such as Power-ICT related services necessary for smart cities.

TEPCO CEO Tomoaki Kobayakawa said: "The electric power sector is facing a massive transformation due to a number of disruptive factors in the industry. By combining our respective infrastructures and know-how to meet these changes, TEPCO and NTT will develop meaningful services that benefit individuals, businesses and society as a whole."

NTT CEO Hiroo Unoura said: "We are excited to be a partner of TEPCO, a giant electric power infrastructure company. This partnership will help NTT accelerate our strategy to utilize our assets and capabilities not only for supporting ICT infrastructure but also for solving social problems. CoreStation is designed to meet growing demand for biometric technology in more-secure, larger scale access control applications in Middle East markets

DUBAI, UAE, Apr 23, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - Suprema Middle East is set to showcase its biometric-driven enterprise access control for the Saudi Arabian market at Intersec Saudi Arabia 2018, to be held at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events from April 24 to 26.

Suprema's new CoreStation is an intelligent door controller which provides the advantages of biometric-enabled security over centralized access control systems. Designed for mid- to enterprise-level access control systems, CoreStation is capable of handling 500,000 users with incredible fingerprint matching speed of up to 400,000 matches per second.

CoreStation offers comprehensive access control functionalities for up to 132 access points, and along with the BioStar 2 security platform, provides high-performance, biometric readiness and Ethernet communications. The device also provides centralized biometric template management and interfaces with a complete set of reader technologies including RS-485 (OSDP) and Wiegand.

"Suprema's CoreStation is designed to fulfill the demand for biometric technology within the more-secure, larger scale access control applications with centralized topology, managing fingerprint matching and biometric data storage from a secure location. The addition of CoreStation to our portfolio offers customers greater choice and flexibility in designing security systems," said Mohamed Elshenawy, Regional Sales Director at Suprema Middle East.

Suprema will also showcase the new XPass D2 series RF card readers, which provide extended capability, design flexibility and cost-effectiveness to the CoreStation. XPass D2 readers are compact outdoor-ready RFID readers featuring dual-frequency RFID technology and a rugged IP67/IK08 housing, optimized for the company's CoreStation-based centralized access control systems.

XPass D2 readers come with dual-frequency RFID technology which reads both 128kHz and 13.56MHz RF cards including EM, MIFARE (plus), DESFire (EV1) and FeliCa standards. All models read BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and NFC signals to provide mobile credential capability when using Suprema's BioStar Mobile Card.

XPass D2 readers come in 3 models: The XPD2-MDB is mullion-type, while the XPD2-GDB and XPD2-GKDB are gangbox-sized form factor, and GKDB models come with 3 x 4 keypads to support PIN authentication. All readers feature robust housings with IP67 weather-proofing and IK08 vandal-proof certifications, and operating range of -30 to 65 degrees C, -22 to 149 degrees F.

"With the new addition of XPass D2 readers to CoreStation, Suprema's ACU-based access control solution, we aim to provide new enterprise-grade features and added flexibility in system design. CoreStation is a clear alternative to the enterprises requiring higher level of biometric security and centralized access control system topology," Elshenawy added.

Established in late 2017, Suprema Middle East now serves the company's GCC-wide customers with localized sales and technical support.

The four-day Hong Kong Houseware Fair and Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair welcomed a total of close to 49,000 buyers from 112 countries and regions.
The Startup Zone at the Houseware Fair provided a promotional platform for start-ups, allowing them to exhibit at the fairs at a lower cost and discover business opportunities by presenting their business ideas at "Startup, Smart Launch" sessions.
The Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair featured pavilions set up by Indian textiles organisations -- including Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) -- as well as Nantong city of the Chinese mainland's Jiangsu province, dubbed "the Hometown of Textiles".
Over 90% of Surveyed Participants See Growing/Steady Sales; Start-ups Welcomed by Buyers

HONG KONG, Apr 23, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - Organised by the HKTDC, the 33rd Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the 9th Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair drew to a successful close today. The two four-day fairs welcomed a total of close to 49,000 buyers from 112 countries and regions, up 1.5 per cent on last year.

29,500 buyers visited the Houseware Fair, while more than 19,000 buyers attended the Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair. Attendance from mature markets such as Singapore, Canada, the UK and the US, as well as emerging markets including the Chinese mainland, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico all saw growth.

Survey: 60% of respondents see Sino-US trade friction having no impact on industry exports --

To understand the views of industry players on market prospects and product trends, the HKTDC commissioned an independent on-site survey, interviewing more than 540 buyers and exhibitors at the two fairs. About 60% of respondents expected the ongoing Sino-US trade friction to have no impact on the sector's export performance.

The survey also found that the industry is cautiously optimistic about the market's prospects, with 40% of respondents anticipating overall sales to grow and 53% expecting them to remain steady this year. Meanwhile, respondents said the major challenges facing the industry in 2018 are increased operating costs (51%), price fluctuations of raw materials (46%) and the volatility of the global economy (39%).

Buyers continue to favour Hong Kong as a trading platform, as the survey found that 46% of buyers polled expect to source an increased volume of products through Hong Kong, while 62% of exhibitors expected to sell an increased volume of products through the city. Quality (87%) and compliance with environmental regulations/standards (83%) were identified by responding buyers as the key competitive advantages of Hong Kong's housewares suppliers.

The survey also sought respondents' views on the growth prospects of the major sales markets. Western Europe (72%), Japan (63%) and North America (55%) are the three most promising traditional markets; while the Chinese Mainland (64%) was regarded as the emerging market with the strongest growth prospects, followed by India (46%) and ASEAN countries (43%).

In terms of products trends, the respondents said kitchenware and gadgets (15%), eco-friendly products (14%), interior decor and handicrafts (12%) are the product categories with the highest growth potential. Simple designs (45%), multifunction products (42%) and trendy designs (40%) are seen as the most outstanding product styles this year.

    A springboard for start-ups --

"Hong Kong has long been a cradle for entrepreneurs," said HKTDC Acting Executive Director Benjamin Chau. "Our innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit, which have contributed greatly to Hong Kong's economic success, are crucial for the city's future. As such, we continued to organise a Startup Zone at this year's Houseware Fair, featuring more than 20 start-ups from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Bangladesh.

The zone allowed start-ups to exhibit at a lower cost, making the show a springboard for them to connect with overseas buyers and manufacturers, and a testing ground to gauge market responses to their products. We also organised a number of "Startup, Smart Launch" sessions for start-ups to present their business ideas and explore opportunities."

Andy Yeung, Product Designer of local start-up Maxcare Trading Limited. said the Startup Zone provided a cost-effective platform to promote the company's products. "At the fair, our Bicit mini gym bikes, palm-sized massagers, smart ceramic cups and portable air coolers have attracted many buyers, especially buyers from Japan, Taiwan and the US, who will place order for our gym bikes and portable air coolers."

Brisk sourcing by buyers from emerging markets --

The Houseware Fair's main theme this year continued to be "L.I.F.E.", standing for its four major themed zones: Lifestyle, Interior, Feast and Enrich. Buyers appreciated the effective zoning, which facilitated sourcing.

Zubair Ahmed, a buyer from the United Arab Emirates' Danube Home, said that he came to Hong Kong to source home furnishings products for the company's 18 stores. He found six potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland, Japan and Thailand, and finalised orders with four exhibitors for US$250,000 worth of cookware, glassware, cutlery and kitchenware, making his visit rewarding.

Home Textiles Fair creates additional opportunities --

Held concurrently with the Houseware Fair, the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair adopted the "Interior" theme and showcased a variety of home textiles, upholstery and furnishings products, providing a one-stop sourcing platform for buyers. The highlight zone, the Hall of Glamour, spotlighted quality brands and designer collections.

India and the Chinese mainland set up a number of dedicated pavilions to showcase their products. Nisha Lamba and Guru Lamba, Directors of Angads Fashion Pty. Ltd. of Australia, visited the fair to source hotel-related textiles and concluded an order for US$25,000 worth of products with an exhibitor from the Chinese mainland.
