Lucky Minerals Fortuna 3 Concession, Ecuador Exploration Update - El Buitre Target

Vancouver, BC, Jan 9, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - via NEWMEDIAWIRE -- Lucky Minerals Inc. (TSX.V: LKY) (OTCPK: LKMNF) (FRA: LKY) ("Lucky" or the "Company") is pleased to announce further results of an on-going geological mapping survey conducted on its Fortuna Project (the "Project") located approximately 60 km south-east of the Town of Cuenca, Ecuador.

48 assay results have been received from the November field survey. Assays of less than 50 ppm up to 0.075% Cu (750 ppm), less than 50 ppm up to 0.03% Mo (300 ppm) and 0.01 g/t Au up to 1.21 g/t Au have been reported. Anomalous gold values from 0 of up to 130 ppb have been also reported in the breccias within the Porphyry.

Surface prospecting undertaken in early December has located what management believe is a mineralized Porphyry system that displays an ovoid shape being 1.3 km long with an estimated width of 1 km; approximately 90% of the Porphyry signature has been mapped to date. This structure is trending north-west and lies on the junction of two regional NNE and NW structures.

During this most recent campaign, B veinlets varying between 1mm to 3mm have been widely observed in the Porphyry as well as major stockworks. The widespread presence of B veins, including some cross-cutting D veins, stockworks and numerous Mo showings indicate that we are on top of the Porphyry system and getting closer to the core of mineralization. It should be noted that no A veins have been encountered yet. Lucky's exploration team believes that this current mapping program has identified a large-scale Porphyry system that will be subjected to detailed and ongoing field follow-up in the coming weeks. 50 mineralized samples from the above referenced B veins have been sent for assaying; results are pending.

QUALITY CONTROL

Rock samples on the Project were assayed by ALS in Lima with preparation performed in Quito. Samples were pulverized with 85% being under 75 microns and assayed by XRF and ICP techniques for multi-elements (four acid digestion) and major oxides. Gold was assayed using a 30g fire assay with AA finish.

Exploration program design and interpretation of results is performed by a Qualified person (QP) employing a Quality Assurance/Quality Control program consistent with industry best practices including the use of standards at every 20 samples.

NEXT STEPS

Starting early 2019, finalization of the current mapping program will be undertaken along with an airborne geophysical survey. Improvement of the existing dirt road and trails to an all-weather 14 km gravel road will be undertaken upon social approval. Aggressive grid-style sampling will continue on Fortuna 3 as well as regional prospecting on the 40 km major regional NNE structure. Other major regional NNE trending structures observed on the property will also be mapped and sampled.

This may be followed by a drilling program later in 2019. Fortuna 3 is one of 12 contiguous concessions which make up the Fortuna Property. Virtually no exploration has been done on these highly prospective concessions. Considerable potential exists for finding significant porphyry and epithermal Cu-Au mineralization throughout the Fortuna concessions.

"Lucky Minerals is very pleased by the results of this ongoing reconnaissance exploration program and we will continue to characterize in more details the identified porphyry system. We are excited to aggressively explore and prospect other targets on Fortuna 3 as well as on the 11 remaining concessions," says CEO John Mears.

About Lucky

An exploration and development company targeting large-scale mineral systems in proven districts with the potential to host world class deposits.

The Fortuna Project

Lucky Minerals holds a 100% interest in Fortuna, a 550 km2 property in the heart of a proven and highly mineralized mineral district in Ecuador but which has seen only limited exploration and has never been drilled.

Evidence of significant hydrothermal alteration, stockwork, breccias, geochemical anomalies and placer mining supports potential for Cu/Au porphyry systems and epithermal Au deposits similar to numerous multi-million-ounce Au and bulk tonnage Cu deposits ~40km away.

Future for Toy Industry 'Challenging but Bright'

$
0
0

Richard Gottlieb, Principal and Founder, Global Toy Experts, tells the audience that while most of the world's toys are made in China, other countries have been developing toy industry centres, including India, Thailand and Indonesia.
Call for Unified Position in Face of Tariff Threats

HONG KONG, Jan 9, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - From Mainland China's continued and growing presence in toy production and consumption to caution over tariffs; from the relevance of the Belt and Road Initiative to tech toys for kids and adults; from intuitive toy ideas to Hong Kong's intellectual property (IP) role. The Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference 2019 covered a plethora of the industry's pressing issues, trends and aspirations under the theme "Forging the Bright Future for the Global Toy Industry".

The one-day conference yesterday (8 Jan) was co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong Toys Council and the Toy Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong Limited, running concurrently with the HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair.

The first conference speaker, Richard Gottlieb, Principal and Founder, Global Toy Experts, stressed his firm belief that the toy industry is based on free trade. "The industry's ecosystem relies on designers, inventors, manufacturers - as well as public relations firms to talk up the products, and logistics and container shipping to keep the system going," Mr Gottlieb said. While most of the world's toys are made in the mainland - with southern China acting as the main "toys complex" - he said other countries have been developing toy manufacturing centres, including India, Thailand and Indonesia.

Mr Gottlieb said Southern California in the US remains the major creative centre for the toy industry, followed by Japan and the European Union, with Hong Kong continuing to create opportunities through its IP protection capabilities. He also predicted that the mainland would become the overall largest consumer of toys by 2022, now showing the fastest rate of growth, while the top consumer countries currently include the US, Denmark, the UK, Germany, France, Brazil and Japan.

The global toy industry should take a unified position in the face of tariff threats and amplify its position on free trade and safety standards, said Mr Gottlieb, suggesting a global congress should be held for the toy industry. As major international toy centres, Hong Kong and Nuremburg in Germany were "great" possible venues for such a congress to be held.

Caution Advised for Toy Industry

The message from Louis WK Chan, HKTDC Assistant Principal Economist (Global Research), was that while the current Sino-US trade dispute is now in the negotiation stage, with hopes of positive news emerging, the toy industry still needed to be cautious, with Mainland China representing 81.5% of global suppliers. While the toy industry is currently not targeted by sweeping new tariff barriers it was "not impossible" for the toy industry to be affected.

Mr Chan cited the HKTDC Export Index for the fourth quarter of 2018 regarding market sentiment, saying that the toy industry was "more cautious and gloomy" compared to the third quarter, despite the perception of the US market "inching up" due to its better economic performance.

Offering advice on how to cope with possible US tariffs on toys, Mr Chan mentioned the possibility of products being put forward for being "specifically excluded" from tariffs, with some 984 such requests having been approved by the US very recently. Also, strategies such as setting up e-commerce operations, considering the reclassification of products, and applying for a rule to lower the price of a product related to value were all legitimate ways of avoiding tariff charges.

So, too, was the prospect of using a US-recognised foreign trade zone or bonded warehouse to defer duties, while toymakers could also consider alternative manufacturing bases and explore new market opportunities. Mr Chan mentioned Poland, Chile, the Czech Republic, Vietnam and India as among the countries where good opportunities were emerging, and indeed where local companies were looking for new suppliers. Hong Kong was also expanding on the number of free trade agreements such as those recently concluded with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Georgia.

Belt and Road: Indonesia a "Hot Spot"

Drawing on his 38 years in the toy industry, Dominic Tam, CEO of Combine Will International Holdings Limited, addressed the issue of global trends and challenges under the Belt and Road Initiative. With higher manufacturing costs in Mainland China and the advent of the Sino-US trade dispute, manufacturers were looking to relocate production to Belt and Road countries - which Mr Tam indicated could represent up to 30% of global gross domestic product (GDP) - while buyers were looking for alternative sourcing locations.

Mr Tam said Indonesia was among the "hottest" locations for relocating production and his company decided to launch there on the island of Java, home to most of the Indonesian population and only a five-hour flight from Hong Kong. He said among the advantages of relocating were competitive minimum wages and savings in the costs of water and electricity, while workers came from local districts which saved on meal and dormitory expenses.

Among the challenges of relocating was the requirement for longer logistical lead times in comparison with the "parent" factory in the mainland, while key registration and permit approvals were quite straightforward. Mr Tam said it took two-and-a-half years to set up the Indonesian facility, from construction to operation, and while Indonesian employees were not as quick in completing work as their mainland counterparts, the quality was good with a lower rejection rate. He also said that investment among Belt and Road countries was improving, citing investments made by Singapore in Indonesia's industrial parks as an example.

Global Trend for Mobile Toys

Technology trends in the toy industry up to 2022 were explored by Jonathan York, Senior Analyst, Euromonitor International, as he presented a snapshot of the sector and explored the next generation of consumers. He showed how video games were outgrowing the traditional toys and games sector in terms of retail sales value, while the Asia Pacific region was the fastest (and leading) region for retail sales in compound annual growth rate (CAGR) terms, with the Middle East and Africa showing strong growth potential. Over the period 2018 through 2022, the mainland is expected to overtake the US in market size, including for tech-based toys, Mr York concluded.

Mobile penetration rates are rising rapidly across the globe and by 2022 more than 80% of households worldwide will possess at least one smartphone, while the penetration rate for the mobile internet will get closer to 100% in the run up to 2022, said Mr York.

While adults are increasingly turning to mobile games for personal use, children are picking up smartphones at home and are looking for more sophisticated ways to interact online. Indeed, in 2018, 37.3 million Google Home and Amazon Echo products were sold globally, growing 45% compared to 2017, with Asia expected to follow this trend. Mainland China-based companies Alibaba, JD.com and Xiaomi are all gearing up for smart living concepts, according to Mr York.

He said future consumer characteristics will see smaller but wealthier households, with consumers more willing to spend on toys for their children as well themselves. At the same time, smart devices such as phones and tablets are becoming more commonplace in households while children are being introduced to technology at an earlier age, with greater access to media content. Mr York explained that the digitalisation of toys, smarter consumers and toys, and "mixed reality" capabilities are all hallmarks of the future toy industry.

Appeal for Toys with "Adventure and Experience"

A selection of everyday items - a water bottle, a cork, a straw and chopsticks - was used to demonstrate how to create experiences of excitement and adventure for children by the final speaker at the conference, Professor Doctor Hartmut Wedekind, Professor of Early Childhood Education at the ASH Berlin and Scientific Director of the Learning and Research Center for Children, HELLEUM.

Professor Doctor Wedekind explained that experiences such as climbing a rope helped to give children a sense of adventure while also promoting a child's desire to create art, including paintings and drawings. The objective of the toys and games industry was to engage children to be active, so that materials may be used in the creative process. He said that children learned, particularly in an educational environment, by playing, exploring and "being amazed" - and toy companies should be encouraged to create toys that were completely new, where children can explore materials step by step.

With that message, Professor Doctor Wedekind finished by unveiling a workable toy fashioned from the raw materials he showed earlier to the audience.

Record Attendance as Hong Kong Creativity Goes on Show

HONG KONG, Jan 9, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 17th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show, the world's second-largest and Asia's largest event of its kind, drew to a successful close today. The three-day fair (7-9 Jan) attracted a record attendance of more than 23,000 visitors from about 100 countries and regions. The event ran concurrently with the eighth Asian Licensing Conference (7-8 Jan), featuring some 30 speakers from renowned brands and global licensing experts.

Rapid Market Growth Drives Industry Forward

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, HKTDC Executive Director Margaret Fong said the shifting economics of global manufacturing have created challenges for industry players, with issues such as increasing protectionism and the transition to e-tailing leading many businesses to begin exploring licensing opportunities in a bid to move up the value chain.

Ms Fong noted that the licensing industry has been showing an upward trend, with global sales of licensed products reaching US$271 billion in 2017, an increase of 3.3% on the previous year. The regional story was even more impressive, with sales growing by 5.8% to US$31.6 billion and accounting for 11.6% of the world total. She added that the Mainland China market showed an increase of 10.3%, topping the world growth chart and continuing to be a significant driver of the global licensing industry.

Conference Unveils New Esports and Content Licensing Opportunities

Nancy Jiang, General Manager, Licensing, iQIYI, said: "iQIYI started business running an online video platform. We widened our business scope to develop our own content properties and build our own licensing business out of them. Our flagship competition show - The Rap of China - features the street culture of Mainland China. It has become a cultural icon of the country and the IP is generating licensing revenue for iQIYI."

Jai Wu, Head of LPL Merchandise & Licensing, Riot Games China, explained that Mainland China is now the largest esports market globally - and still rising. The mainland had 250 million esports users in 2018, after esports revenue totalled US$760 million in 2017. "We have launched a wide variety of licensing programmes, including comics, novels and a reality TV show. We are developing our esports business through cross-platform and cross-sector cooperation," said Mr Wu.

DTR (Direct-to-Retail) Talk Connects Exhibitors to Retailers

The DTR (Direct-to-Retail) Talk sessions, where successful retailers in Asia shared their IP sourcing needs and requirements for licensing cooperation, debuted at this year's conference. Amanda Yuen, Senior Manager Marketing Department Hanshin Department Store Co. Ltd, said: "Online shopping is growing fast, and in order to bring online consumers back to offline, we run activities every festive season, and cooperation with licensed characters is an effective strategy. In the past, licensing cooperation was usually led by brand owners and retailers had little say. By joining the Hong Kong International Licensing Show, we can assume a proactive role in finding partners and we have identified an interesting Hong Kong character brand for further discussion."

European Brands Come to Tap Asian Markets

First-time exhibitor MotoGP's Licensing Director of Commercial Department, Phaedra Haramis, said: "Licensing has helped transform our event IP into a lifestyle brand, which is more sustainable. MotoGP events are staged in different parts of the world, with a strong presence Europe, Japan and Thailand. This is my first time to take part in the show and I feel excited that it opens the door to huge licensing opportunities. Through the business-matching service, I am glad to be lined up with apparel manufacturers from Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam."

Another debut exhibitor at the European Lifestyle Brand Forum, Chupa Chups, is a Spanish candy brand with 60 years' history. Licensing Area Manager Marta Ballesteros Codina said: "We have actively developed a cross-border licensing business for promoting the fun and playful image of Chupa Chups. Results at the show are very encouraging. We have located apparel manufacturers from Australia and Mainland China to further exploring collaboration."

Local Creative Talents Expand Business Network

"Amid strong competition, forming partnerships through licensing is the key to grow any business," said Victor Lam, Managing Director of Hong Kong exhibitor Active Works Company Limited. "We met with a Korean artist-cum-brand owner who was attracted to our cute Puzzle Bear IP through the show's business-matching service. As both parties have our own IPs and strong licensing and marketing teams, we could launch brand cooperation across regions. We have already had several rounds of negotiation."

Ellen Mok, Director of MiQi which exhibited in the inaugural DLAB Hong Kong Pavilion, said: "Our brand has collaborated with some big names to roll out jewellery and chocolate collections. Through the business-matching meeting, we were paired up with an Indonesian company which would like to engage our training services, while buyers from Singapore and Malaysia are looking to become our agency in Southeast Asia."

Concurrent Event Enriches Licensing Show

The Asian Licensing Conference ran concurrently with the Licensing Show, giving insights into the latest industry trends, including the fast-growing Asia and Mainland China markets, content licensing, esports, and legal and operational tactics. The event attracted more than 1,300 attendees from around the world.

Particle Sciences strengthens nanomilling offering with new API screening program

CLEVELAND, Ohio, Jan 10, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - The Lubrizol Corporation announces its contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), Particle Sciences, a Lubrizol LifeSciences company, has strengthened its nanomilling offering with the launch of a new Nanomilling Feasibility Program.

The program is designed to assess nanomilling as a dissolution/solubility enhancement option for a client's active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). In as little as eight weeks, Particle Sciences will nanomill an API with GRAS-approved excipients, measure particle size distribution and obtain short-term stability data to identify promising formulations. Pre-clinical test samples will then be made available to clients for pharmacokinetic studies.

Up to 90 percent of APIs in the discovery pipeline are poorly water-soluble, resulting in poor bioavailability and challenges for dosage form development. Nanomilling is commercially validated with 12 nanomilled drug products approved by the FDA since 2000 including Aristada(R) and Invega Sustenna(R). Over the years, Particle Sciences has nanomilled scores of APIs, including new chemical entities as well as those found in marketed products.

Dr. Robert Lee, president of Particle Sciences states, "With so many poorly water-soluble drug candidates emerging from drug discovery, advanced formulation techniques like nanomilling are increasingly in demand and may provide an excellent route to improved bioavailability and enhanced therapeutic effect. While several companies now have nanomilling equipment, few have the extensive knowledge on stabilizing nanoparticulate suspensions and the analytical capabilities that we do. We are also the only CDMO that offers cGMP nanomilling under aseptic conditions."

Particle Sciences has decades of experience developing nanoparticulate suspensions, both with commercial milling equipment and its own proprietary mills. The CDMO has the facilities and equipment to produce clinical and commercial-scale nanomilled formulations.

Dr. Lee continues, "Our expertise in this area means we can determine within a short timeframe if nanomilling is a viable technology to improve the solubility of a client's API and facilitate the decision-making process for their project."

Diesel Generator Set MGS1200B
Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland
- Equipment Being Used at the Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland, Built in an Abandoned Quarry in the Songjiang District -

TOKYO, Jan 10, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engine & Turbocharger, Ltd. (MHIET), a Group member of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), has delivered two MGS (Mitsubishi Generator Series) diesel generator sets for backup emergency use at Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland, a hotel opened on the site of an abandoned quarry in the Songjiang District of Shanghai. The delivery was made through the Group's Chinese subsidiary Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (MHISH) to Shimao Group, a major property development firm for Intercontinental and Hilton Hotels in China. This is the fifth delivery of MGS sets to the company for a cumulative total of ten units, reflecting the high reliability of Japanese quality and the product appeal.

Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland is a five-star resort hotel built into a huge 90-meter deep quarry, with two above-ground floors and 16 floors below ground level. Construction took over nine years. The hotel has 336 guest accommodations including rooms below the water level with views of tropical fish, as well as facilities that make full use of the deep quarry, including an underwater restaurant, balconies with spectacular views of waterfalls, and a cliff slide. The two newly delivered units (MGS1200B) each have generating capacity of 1,000 kilowatts (kW).

MGS systems incorporate diesel engines manufactured by MHIET in Sagamihara, Japan, together with generators and auxiliary equipment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engine System Asia Pte. Ltd. (MHIES-A) in Singapore, and MHI Engine System Vietnam Co., Ltd. (MHIES-V) in Vietnam. They are widely used as stand-alone generators on islands and at other locations where construction of large-scale power plants is difficult, and for backup emergency use in buildings. Owing to their quality and reliability, MGS systems have been extremely competitive in Asian markets compared to American and European models. The two newly delivered units were manufactured by MHIES-V.

In China, stable economic growth is driving a wide range of construction projects, from data centers to large-scale factories and commercial facilities, both in metropolitan areas such as Beijing and Shanghai, as well as regional cities. Accordingly, demand for backup emergency power systems in these facilities is also growing.

Going forward, MHIET, together with its parent company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Forklift, Engine & Turbocharger Holdings, Ltd. (M-FET), will prioritize China as an important market for MGS diesel generator sets, and seek expansion in new orders on the strength of these systems' exceptional track record. We will also focus on improving after-sales service for previously supplied units, in order to further increase sales.

All-new Mazda3 (North American specifications)
Parts using 1,310 MPa-class high-strength steel
To be applied across the lineup starting from the all-new Mazda3

HIROSHIMA, Japan, Jan 10, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Mazda Motor Corporation, working separately with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation and JFE Steel Corporation, has developed the world's first cold-stamped vehicle body parts made from 1,310 MPa-class high-strength steel.(1) The parts are used in Mazda's new-generation Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, which will underpin upcoming models starting from the all-new Mazda3.

High-strength steel enables automakers to make parts from thinner sheet metal while retaining the necessary yield strength. This results in a lighter vehicle body, which contributes to improved handling stability and fuel economy. A strong body is also essential to ensure crash safety performance, and the application of higher-strength steel has been widely anticipated.

Until now, cold-stamping of vehicle body structural members has only been possible with 1,180 MPa or lower-classed steel, due to the material's formability and the difficulty of ensuring dimensional accuracy after processing. Working in collaboration with the above-mentioned companies, however, Mazda has found an appropriate set of processing conditions that make the process possible with 1,310 MPa-class high-strength steel.

The all-new Mazda3 uses 1,310 MPa-class high-strength steel for the front pillar inner, the roof rail inner, the hinge pillar reinforcement, the roof rail reinforcement, the No. 2 crossmember and the side sill inner reinforcement, saving about 3 kilograms over the same parts in the previous model.

Mazda is working to make cars that help preserve the beauty of the earth and enrich individual lives and society as a whole by offering driving pleasure, the fundamental appeal of the automobile. Through the car-ownership experience, the company aims to become an irreplaceable presence in customers' lives and a brand with which they feel a special bond.

HONG KONG, Jan 10, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - The HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair concluded today after featuring close to 3,000 global exhibitors. Together with the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show, which closed yesterday (9 Jan) with over 400 exhibitors, the first four Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) fairs of 2019 attracted more than 130,000 buyers, an increase of 3.3% on last year.

Over 51,000 buyers attended the Toys & Games Fair, while about 34,000 and 21,800 buyers visited the Baby Products Fair and Stationery Fair respectively. In addition, more than 23,000 visitors attended the Licensing Show.

Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said the attendance for the four events showed that the sourcing sentiment of global buyers had not been affected by the Sino-United States trade friction, and they continue to see Hong Kong as an important international exhibition and sourcing hub.

"For the Toys & Games Fair, Baby Products Fair and Stationery Fair, we saw an increase in attendance by buyers from a number of different countries, including developed markets such as Australia, Germany and the United States, as well as emerging markets such as Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Poland, and Vietnam. The number of Mainland Chinese buyers recorded double-digit growth," Mr Chau said. "The HKTDC will continue to provide an international trade and exchange platform for industry professionals to generate more business opportunities for all."

Smart Products and Educational Toys in High Demand

This year's fairs featured an assortment of new products, with those incorporating smart technologies being in high demand. These products include a variety of toys and games that incorporate virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, as well as those enabled with mobile apps. Educational toys exploring children's potential were also well received by buyers. A STREAM Toys Product Display -- highlighting toys related to science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts and mathematics - showcased the latest product trends and drew a lot of interest from visitors.

Johnny Sze, Director & Vice General Manager, Eastcolight (Hong Kong) Limited, a Toys & Games Fair exhibitor, said that as STREAM toys gained popularity in Europe and Southeast Asia over the last two years, the sales of related products increased by 6 to 7% year-on-year. "We presented three new STREAM toys series at the Toys & Games Fair this year. We met with more buyers from Korea, Singapore and South Africa, and found a potential distributor in Indonesia on the first day of the fair."

A representative from Ram Chander & Sons, a buyer from India, said that the Toys & Games Fair is an ideal platform to look for new products and learn about the latest product trends. The company met with more than 40 exhibitors supplying educational, creativity-boosting and science-based toys, and planned to complete orders worth US$500,000 with about 10 suppliers.

Concurrent Baby Products and Stationery Fairs

The latest edition of the Baby Products Fair presented the Baby Tech zone and the newly-launched Maternity Products zone among others. Bang Toys from Brazil, with 20 years of experience sourcing and selling toys, visited the Baby Products Fair for the first time. Its Commercial Director Paulo de Tarso B. Hornos said that he found suitable products from three Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese suppliers. "I plan to spend US$500,000 buying a variety of baby products and toys including baby mats, toy telephones and instruments. The Hong Kong Baby Products Fair is an excellent sourcing platform where I can find many suppliers and suitable products," he said.

At the concurrent Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, jointly organised with Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Mainland Chinese exhibitor Sozen Design, which specialises in designing unique bookmarks, postcards and gift stationery, aimed to expand its Asian market through the event. Dan Shen, Sozen Design's Project, said they finalised orders with the National Museum of China and a bookshop from Taiwan in the first two days of the fair, which he called "an encouraging result" for the company.

Multiple thematic seminars and a conference were held during the fairs to facilitate industry exchange including "the Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference 2019", "Smart Tech & DIY Toys - What's New", "Toy Safety & Regulations Updates", "Toys Compliance, Testing & Certification", "Insight into the Upcoming Stationery Trends" and "Digital Marketing: Innovation Key to Success".

To encourage suppliers to leverage online-to-offline (O2O) promotional opportunities, the HKTDC has enhanced the sourcing function of its trade fair websites by launching the year-round "Exhibition Online" platform. In addition to featuring fair updates and the latest industry sourcing information, the platform also allows suppliers to stay connected with global buyers after the fairs, whereas buyers can easily source industry-specific products from dedicated fair websites.

Next-Generation LNG Carrier "NOHSHU MARU"
- Fourth "Sayaringo STaGE" Ship, for JERA -

- Significantly improved LNG carrying capacity and fuel performance due to enhanced hull structure and hybrid propulsion system
- New vessel to transport LNG (including the Freeport LNG Project in Texas)

TOKYO, Jan 11, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a Group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) based in Yokohama, held a christening ceremony today for a next-generation LNG (liquefied natural gas) carrier under construction for TRANS PACIFIC SHIPPING 5 LTD., a joint venture of JERA Co., Inc. (JERA) and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL). The new ship, named NOHSHU MARU, is the fourth vessel of the latest model "Sayaringo STaGE" type, featuring significant improvements in both LNG carrying capacity and fuel performance due to the adoption of a more efficient hull structure and an innovative hybrid propulsion system. Completion and delivery is scheduled for February 2019, after which the NOHSHU MARU will be put into service, transporting LNG for the Freeport LNG Project in the U.S. state of Texas (in which JERA is participating), among other ventures.

The christening ceremony, held at the Koyagi Plant of MHI's Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, was attended by representatives of the ship owner, along with many other guests. Chubu Electric Power President, Satoru Katsuno, announced the name of the ship, while his wife performed the ceremonial rope cutting.

The NOHSHU MARU has a length of 297.5m, width of 48.94m, and depth of 27.0m, with a draft of 11.1m. Deadweight tonnage is approximately 80,300 tons, with total tank holding capacity of 180,000m3. Launching took place on October 9, 2017. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding received the order for the new vessel from the owner, TRANS PACIFIC SHIPPING 5 LTD., through MI LNG Company, Limited, a joint venture for the design and sale of LNG carriers established by MHI and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Construction was managed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Structure Co., Ltd., an MHI Group company based in Nagasaki. The vessel's name is derived from the old provincial name for the southern region of Gifu Prefecture, one of the areas served by Chubu Electric Power.

JERA was established in 2015 as an equal-share joint venture between TEPCO Fuel & Power, a group company of Tokyo Electric Power Company, and Chubu Electric Power Company. Its business operations include construction and refurbishment of thermal power plants in Japan, as well as energy infrastructure projects and power generation overseas.

The Sayaringo STaGE is a successor to the "Sayaendo," a vessel highly acclaimed for its reliability and innovatively refined MOSS-type spherical tanks. The use of apple-shaped tanks allows for greater LNG carrying capacity without increases to the ship's width, while the hybrid propulsion system further improves fuel efficiency over the previous model.

STaGE, an acronym derived from "Steam Turbine and Gas Engines," is a hybrid propulsion system combining a steam turbine and gas-fired engines. Effective utilization of waste heat from the engines for the steam turbine provides a substantial improvement in plant efficiency, allowing for high-efficiency navigation in both low and high-speed areas.

Going forward, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding and MHI Marine Structure will continue the development of next-generation LNG carriers with exceptional fuel efficiency and sustainable performance, in order to contribute to stable energy supplies and environmental conservation.

Lexus LC Convertible concept Makes World Debut in Detroit

LC Convertible concept
- Open top concept suggests future direction of LC flagship
- Dynamic design positions LC concept as a halo for the rest of the brand
- Continues the Lexus tradition of customer-focused design

TOKYO, Jan 11, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Lexus shocked the automotive world in Detroit two years ago with the debut of the LC coupe. It was a testament to the brand's new sense of creative ambition, but it was only just the beginning. Since then, the Lexus design team has been exploring the brand's evolution and the latest result of those explorations will make its debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show with the world premiere of the Lexus LC Convertible concept.

An open-air roadster that is an artful reflection of the LC coupe, the design goal of the Convertible concept was the expression of "ultimate beauty". From the rake of the windshield to the smooth contours of the rear decklid that houses the convertible top, every line on the LC Convertible concept was drawn to evoke an emotional response. A stunning design from every angle, the LC Convertible concept stands as an aspirational halo vehicle for the entire Lexus lineup.

"This concept takes the unmistakable design of the LC coupe and reimagines it as a future convertible," said Tadao Mori, chief designer of the LC Convertible concept. "It blends all the best aspects of the original coupe with the dynamic design of an open-air convertible."

Long, low and lean, the LC Convertible concept retains the athletic proportions of the LC coupe. It's a shape that evolved naturally from the original LC design, yet still manages to stand on its own with a unique identity. It blends uniquely Japanese aesthetics with the promise of sensory satisfaction that only a convertible can provide.

In addition to the visual appeal of the exterior sheetmetal, the LC Convertible concept attracts drivers and passengers alike with an allure of a cabin that caters to every need. From the comfort of its tailored seats to the feel of every switch and button, everything about this LC is designed to make even the most common trip feel like an occasion. Crisp white leather trim abounds while yellow accent stitching adds a pop of color without distracting from the subtle elegance of the overall design.

More than just a grand tourer, the strong exterior lines of the LC Convertible concept reinforce its performance pedigree. Its short overhangs, 22-inch wheels and wide stance are all reminders of this car's performance potential.

"A production version of this concept would be exhilarating in many different ways. You would see its dynamic lines as you approach, hear its engine when you started it up and feel everything around you once on the road. It would engage the senses in a way that is unique and exciting every time you got behind the wheel," said Mori-san.

2019 Yaris WRC
TOKYO, Jan 14, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - The 2019 FIA World Rally Championship season has been launched today in front of thousands of motorsport fans at the Autosport International show in Birmingham, England. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team is in attendance with its manufacturers' championship-winning Yaris WRC car and its full squad of drivers and co-drivers.

Joining the team for this year is the British crew of Kris Meeke and his new co-driver Seb Marshall, and the Autosport International show--a popular annual curtain-raiser to the motorsport season--represents their first official appearance on home ground with the team.

The pair join Ott Tanak/Martin Jarveoja and Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila, who last year helped Toyota to claim the manufacturers' title in just the second season of its return to the WRC.

Key to that success were developments made to improve the Yaris WRC throughout the season based upon the lessons gained from previous rallies. These developments have been carried through to the beginning of the 2019 season, which gets underway with Rallye Monte-Carlo on January 24-27.

Quotes:

Tommi Makinen (Team Principal)

"It's brilliant to return to the show for the launch of the 2019 season as the reigning manufacturers' champions. We know that a lot of fans in the UK in particular have been very excited about Kris and Seb joining our team, so this is quite a fitting place for us to start the year. What we were able to achieve last season was incredible, thanks to the hard work of the whole team to constantly improve the Yaris WRC. We start this year with the same successful package, but we keep on working to make a better car. Now we want to defend our manufacturers' title while also winning the drivers' championship. It will not be easy because we will face even stronger competition, but everybody is confident of a good season."

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team is inspired by the motto: "ALL FOR THE WIN" as it competes throughout the 2019 season. Our goal in 2019 is to fight for all three crowns. All team members are aiming for this big goal together. We look forward to your continuous support!

4.5GHz band 5G base station andSL train
Massive MIMO antenna installed at the 4.5GHz band 5G base station
28GHz band 5G base station and SL train
TOKYO, Jan 14, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation announced that it contributed to a video transmission test utilizing 5G conducted in November 2018 by NTT DOCOMO, INC. and TOBU RAILWAY CO., LTD. through the provision of 5G base stations(1) that support 4.5GHz and 28GHz bands.

In recent years, the demand for high-definition video is constantly on the rise. This demonstration was conducted with a view toward application of 5G in the field of entertainment, including sports and tourism content.

Specifically, 8K ultra-high-definition live video featuring a Steam Locomotive (SL) train was transmitted from a 5G base station installed along a railroad to a 5G mobile station located inside a running SL train and put on an 8K display.

Moreover, high-definition 4K video content, which had been taped beforehand, was transmitted from the 5G base station to the 5G mobile station on the SL train and distributed to the mobile terminals of passengers on the train via wireless LAN. This demonstrated that the utilization of 5G enables the transmission of high-presence and high-definition video content, even on a train or a bus in motion, providing a service that allows the distribution of large-capacity content in a variety of media, regardless of the location or situation.

The NEC 5G base station was equipped with a Massive MIMO antenna, which forms beams (directivity) that concentrate power on the location and direction of the 5G mobile station. Since the antenna always forms optimal beams for a mobile station by making the beams track the mobile station in motion, it is capable of realizing a high-data transmission rate and high-quality wireless data communication, even for a mobile station installed inside a moving train, as in this demonstration.

Moving forward, NEC will continue to work on 5G verification throughout a wide range of use cases, including applications in tourism, healthcare and security, under various conditions and environments, such as urban and rural areas.

This experiment is part of a trial conducted by NTT DOCOMO under a project commissioned by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) to examine the technical specifications for fifth generation mobile communication systems that can realize average data communication speeds of 4-8 Gbps in outdoor environments within FY2018, ending in March 2019.

(1) The 5G base station and the mobile station equipped with the Massive MIMO antenna that support the 4.5GHz band feature enhancements based on results from "The research and development project for realization of the fifth-generation mobile communications system" commissioned by The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan.

2020 Lexus RC F and RC F Track Edition Debut in Detroit

Lexus RC F "Track Edition"
- Refreshed 2020 Lexus RC F boasts improved performance and updated design
- New 2020 RC F Track Edition offers exclusive upgrades designed for hard core enthusiasts
- New launch control feature delivers 0-to-60mph time of less than 4.0 seconds on Track Edition

Detroit, Michigan, Jan 14, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - Freshly updated for the 2020 model year, the RC F coupe now boasts improved performance, revised styling and an all-new, limited production Track Edition. With the introduction of the RC F Track Edition, hard core driving enthusiasts no longer have to decide between a luxury car for the street and a serious performance car for the track. Blending the luxury and craftsmanship of Lexus with performance upgrades typically reserved for exotic sportscars, the RC F Track Edition is capable of turning hot laps all afternoon and being driven home that night. It's the latest milestone for the F performance brand that will continue to evolve as an important pillar of the overall strategy at Lexus.

The Track Edition joins the standard Lexus RC F performance coupe which has been extensively updated for the 2020 model year. Improved aerodynamics, reduced weight, a retuned suspension and enhanced styling elevate the RC F to a new level of performance and refinement.

"The new RC F and the Track Edition, in particular, benefit from constant development. With the latest improvements, these models help further distinguish the F brand by offering fast, durable, highly capable performance cars that rely on a range of technologies to help make their performance accessible to drivers of all skill levels," said Koji Sato, executive vice president, Lexus International.

The RC F Redefined

The 2020 Lexus RC F coupe gets a wide range of changes designed to boost its performance and freshen its overall look. One of the first targets for the engineers was reducing weight without compromising the coupe's sense of refinement and solidity. At the rear, hollow half shafts are now used in place of the previous solid shafts while up front a pared down intake manifold and a smaller air conditioning compressor remove weight from the front of the car. Changing to aluminum for the toe control brackets and upper suspension support brackets also reduces weight while maintaining stiffness.

To further refine the feel of the RC F, there are now stiffer bushings for the rear suspension arms and steering rack mounts. More rigid engine mounts were also used to better transmit the power of the RC F's normally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, one of the last such engines available in a luxury coupe. It's now rated at 472 horsepower (+5hp) and 395 pound feet of torque (+6 lb ft) thanks to a revised intake routing and lower rpm trigger point for the secondary intake opening (2,800 rpm vs 3,600rpm). An eight-speed automatic transmission carries over, but a higher final drive ratio (3.13 vs 2.93) has been installed to improve off-the-line response.

For the ultimate in standing start acceleration, the RC F now includes electronic launch control as standard. With a push of the button on the console, the system automatically adjusts the traction and throttle control for maximum acceleration from a stop. All the driver has to do is press and hold the brake pedal, engage the system, floor the accelerator to bring up the engine speed and release the brake.

Additional performance gains are delivered by new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires designed specifically for the RC F. Compared to the standard Michelin specifications, the tires on the RC F utilize a unique profile shape, tread pattern and rubber compound. The changes are specifically designed to reduce understeer, improve overall lateral grip and increase durability under extreme conditions.

There are also subtle but substantive changes to the styling of the RC F that add familial traits to further refine its aggressive overall shape. Up front, the headlights have been updated to a design that features stacked LED lights and integrated daytime running lights. The shape of the signature grille has been altered by adding a lower lip opening that stretches across the bottom to create a visually shorter front fascia. At the rear of the car, new taillights integrate neatly into a reshaped bumper to give the RC F a cleaner, more chiseled appearance.

RC F Track Edition: A Higher Degree of F

More than a mere accessories package, the limited production RC F Track Edition features a precisely engineered set of upgrades that work together seamlessly to push its performance to a new level. Developed with input from Lexus race teams in the Super GT and IMSA series, the Track Edition is designed to deliver exceptional performance that enthusiasts can easily exploit in a wide variety of conditions.

Achieving that level of predictable performance was made possible by rigorous engineering and the assembly precision of Takumi masters who oversee production of every RC F. All aspects of the car were scrutinized for improvement, but the Track Edition doesn't forego refinement for all-out speed. It remains an uncompromised luxury performance coupe with the ability to impress both on the track and off.

A Smoother Shape and a Precise Diet

One key area of improvement is the RC F Track Edition's aerodynamic signature. Up front, the unique air dam is not only made from carbon fiber to reduce weight, it's also designed to increase front end downforce for better grip and more precise steering. At the rear of the car, a fixed rear wing made from carbon fiber replaces the active spoiler offered on the standard RC F. The fixed wing is not only lighter, it does double duty by simultaneously reducing drag and adding downforce.

To accomplish that paradoxical feat, the engineers started by shaping the wing in a way that smooths out the airflow over the rear of the car to decrease drag-inducing turbulence. They then added a very slight angle of attack to produce downforce without compromising the overall airflow. The result is up to 58 pounds of additional downforce compared to the active rear spoiler.

Like the standard model, weight reduction was a key area of focus for the Track Edition. Preliminary estimates put the total reduction between 160-180 pounds compared to the previous RC F, but more importantly, the engineers focused on cutting weight that yields the most significant dynamic improvements. This led to keying in on unsprung weight since any weight that can be removed from the mass not supported by the suspension pays huge dividends in handling and steering feel.

With that goal in mind, every Track Edition model is upgraded with Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors. They are not only significantly lighter than their steel counterparts, they're also better able to withstand the extreme heat cycling associated with performance driving. They are surrounded by a set of lightweight 19" BBS forged alloy wheels that feature a design derived from the RC F GT3 race car. Between the wheels, brake rotors and calipers, the Track Edition boasts a significant 55-pound reduction in unsprung weight on the front of the car alone.

Additional weight was removed by specifying carbon fiber for the roof and hood along with switching to a carbon fiber partition behind the rear seats and a carbon bumper reinforcement. Many of these carbon fiber pieces are made on the same line that supplied the Lexus LFA during its two-year production run. A standard titanium muffler and tail pipes is yet another area where the Track Edition sheds weight. Rarely seen on production cars, the use of titanium not only reduces the overall weight of the individual parts, it gives the Track Edition a polished look along with a unique sound.

That sound is worth enhancing, too, as the Track Edition uses the same normally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 found in every RC F. Combined with the new electronic launch control system, the RC F Track Edition is capable of a 0-to-60 mph time of less than 4.0 seconds.

In order to give the Track Edition a more exclusive look on the inside, a red leather interior comes standard along with Alcantara seat accents and red carbon trim on the doors and dashboard. Only two exterior colors will be available: Ultra White and Nebula Matte Gray, an exclusive color only available on the Track Edition.

Both the 2020 Lexus RC F and the RC F Track Edition will start production in the second quarter of 2019. Pricing will be announced closer to their on-sale dates.

Various fashion parades and seminars are being staged during the fair period.
Budding Local Designer Labels Showcased at FASHIONALLY Parades

HONG KONG, Jan 14, 2019 - (ACN Newswire) - Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 50th edition of Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter started its four-day run today and continues until 17 Jan at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). This year's fair, the largest of its kind in Asia, has attracted some 1,400 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions. In 2018, Fashion Week drew 14,000 buyers from 76 countries and regions, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a key sourcing hub for global fashion traders and retailers.

HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau noted: "We are thrilled to kick off the 50th edition of Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter today. What started out as a small-scale show held at local hotels has become Asia's largest fashion fair, creating many important business opportunities for exhibitors from Hong Kong and around the globe."

Facing the uncertainties resulting from the ongoing trade conflict between the United States and Mainland China, together with rapid changes in sourcing and retailing models, Mr Chau urged industry players to grasp the opportunities presented by buyers from emerging markets, and stay competitive by improving design quality. Manufacturers also need to adopt the latest technologies to add value to their products. "Hong Kong Fashion Week is poised to remain as the ideal platform through which the industry can promote the latest products and exchange the latest information on fashion and market trends," said Mr Chau.

Barney Cheng and LuLu Cheung Feature at Corporate Fashion and Uniforms Zone

Fashion Week incorporates various themed zones to cater for the sourcing needs of different sectors in the garment industry, from garments, designer labels and upstream products, such as fabrics and clothing accessories, to trade services and new production technologies in fashion.

The Corporate Fashion and Uniforms zone returns this year and features the Hong Kong Designer Uniform Display, which showcases uniform collections from some of Hong Kong's top designers including Allan Chiu, Barney Cheng, Kurt Ho & Nelson Leung, LuLu Cheung and Mountain Yam.

The World of Fashion Accessories also returns, bringing together items ranging from shoes and bags to fashion jewellery, scarves and shawls. New this year, The Federation of Hong Kong Footwear Ltd showcases its latest shoe designs with a fashion parade. Special product zones such as Fashionable Sportswear, Thermal Clothing, Bridal & Evening Wear and Intimate Wear & Swimwear feature the latest designs on offer. Incorporating the designs of 60 designers from different countries and regions, the International Fashion Designers' Showcase presents fashion masterpieces from around the globe under one roof.

FASHIONALLY Parades Show Creativity of Budding Hong Kong Labels

Six Hong Kong fashion designer labels present at "FASHIONALLY Collection #13" and three "FASHIONALLY Presentation" sessions during Fashion Week. Yeung Chin (brand name: YEUNG CHIN), Jane Ng (brand name: phenotypsetter) and Alee Lee (brand name: ALEE LEE) displayed their latest collections at FASHIONALLY Collection #13 today.

The FASHIONALLY Presentation showcases the design works of local fashion designers Arto Wong (brand name: ARTO.), Jason Lee (brand name: YMDH) and Carrie Kwok (brand name: CAR|2IE) through theatrical storytelling. Yam Chan, who comes from a fashion design background, is also collaborating with FASHIONALLY for the first time, showcasing his handcrafted dolls MICH at the MICH - ALLY Exhibition on 16-17 Jan.

Buyer Forums and Fashion Trend Seminars Promote Industry Exchange

Alongside the many fashion parades at Fashion Week, buyer forums, trend-forecasting seminars and sharing sessions on the latest production technologies will provide effective platforms for the industry to gather market information and exchange ideas. Leading international fashion trend forecaster Fashion Snoops shared on "The Visionary Fashion Trends for Spring/Summer 2020" today. Other seminars feature industry leaders and experts addressing issues such as rapid footwear prototyping, the sustainable development of the fashion industry, the cotton market outlook and the latest cotton textile technologies, as well as online-to-offline (O2O) retailing strategies.

Hong Kong is a popular sourcing hub frequented by international traders, major retailers and chain stores. The annual Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is an important platform for buyers to discover the latest products and accessories. To create more business opportunities for exhibitors, the HKTDC has arranged 90 buying missions from 43 countries and regions, bringing more than 3,800 companies to the show. Participants include representatives from fashion brands, major chain stores and distributors from both traditional and emerging markets, such as the Czech Republic's Zoot, Indonesia's The Goods Dept, Japan's LEON International, Korea's Lotte Department Store, Russia's Forward, the United Kingdom's Temperley London, and 3NT from the United States.

Innovative Digital Initiatives Lead to New Era of Connectivity

The 50th edition of Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter marks a new era of connectivity for the fair. Through the latest version of the HKTDC Marketplace app, the HKTDC recently launched the new Exhibitor e-Badge that offers seamless access to the fairground. This initiative, together with the Buyer e-Badge introduced last year and the e-Business Card function, enables exhibitors and buyers to link up digitally simply by scanning each other's QR code. These exciting features strengthen connectivity between exhibitors and buyers, maximising information exchange as well as business opportunities at the fair.
