The delegation met with HRH Prince Saud, Deputy Governor for Investment Affairs of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) on 11 November at the SAGIA Headquarters in Riyadh. His Royal Highness spoke about Saudi Arabia's vibrant investment climate and related opportunities. His Royal Highness encouraged more Hong Kong companies to use Saudi Arabia as a business hub to penetrate the Middle East market.
The Hong Kong delegation visited the Saudi Export Development Authority to discuss mutual cooperation in supporting non-oil Saudi exporters to use the Hong Kong platform to promote their increasingly diversified products. The delegation also met with Council of Saudi Chambers and exchanged views on SME cooperation between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia.
The HKTDC co-organised more than 180 business-matching sessions with the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce to promote high quality stylish Hong Kong-designed products, including electronics, fashion and accessories, gifts, watches and clocks, to Saudi Arabia's booming consumer market. Highlighting the potential of the Saudi Arabia market, the Hong Kong delegates in general received serious business enquiries, and a few of these have already become business deals. In the first nine months of 2015, Hong Kong's total exports to Saudi Arabia increased 11 per cent year-on-year to HK$5.1 billion.
A total of 35 Hong Kong businesspeople are taking part in the visit to Saudi Arabia (11-14 November), following their participation in the HKTDC's Lifestyle Expo in Dubai (9-10 November) earlier this week.
